'Schemes are full of pregnant teenagers and unemployed, semi-literate thugs on benifits. They are all a bunch of wasters!'
This is a statement showing a stereotypical view of the schemes made presumably by someone who doesn't live there. Of course it has some truth in it, as there is bound to be some thugs and people of low regard almost everywhere in the world, but there must be some people who are not like the people described above, such as pensioners, perhaps young couples or people simply down on hard times. The last option could be pretty common as the recession could force many respectable people to seek cheaper housing in schemes. They could afford little else.
The statement "They are all a bunch of wasters!" is needless personal opinion, simply looking down on people the writer knows nothing of.
This kind of statement is often made by upper and middle class looking down upon the lower class people who inhabit the scheme. This keeps the lower class down, perpetuating the way things are in this society.
Again, pregnant teenagers will be found in schemes, but also elsewhere throughout society whereaver large numbers of teenagers are. Especialy where there is little else to do, as in the scheme.
On the other hand, schemes are not "full" of these kinds of people, there are meany others also. Many kids will study, trying to improve their stations in life and get themselves out of schemes. Adults may go to adult learning centers to recieve qualifications, with the aim of finding better jobs.
It is true that schemes contain high concentrations of thugs and pregnant teenagers. They do tend to have significantly higher crime rates than other places such as the country, but to say they contain only these people...I would say this is inaccurate.
